Children from rural and remote, low socio-demographic, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, are 3-4 times more likely to die from preventable illnesses and injuries.

Our mission is to empower caregivers to save children’s lives from preventable accidents and illnesses, by providing equality in access to the knowledge needed in an emergency and to keep children safe.

Participants in our courses report they are more likely to perform CPR in the community after attending education.

Participants confidence in managing children’s health increases by 80% across five key health literacy domains.

Our impact extends beyond knowledge gain, 66% of participants report they would not have attended if the education was not delivered free of charge within their community, highlighting the significant barriers many families face in accessing health education.

Saving lives.

Preventing death.

Saving lives. Preventing death.

First aid and health literacy education can play a critical role in improving outcomes when a child experiences a medical emergency, serious illness, injury, or cardiac arrest. Parents and carers are often the first people present when these events occur, making their knowledge and confidence essential in those critical early moments.

For many families, the cost of a first aid course can be a significant barrier. With training often costing between $90 and $150 per person, attending a course may mean sacrificing other household essentials. For others, financial constraints, limited transport, childcare responsibilities, or other life circumstances make access difficult.

By providing free Infant and Child First Aid and health literacy education to underserved communities, The Sisterhood Project is helping to remove these barriers. We empower parents and carers with the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to recognise serious illness, respond in an emergency, and seek help when it is needed—giving children the best possible chance of a positive outcome.

Putting lifesaving skills into all parents hands.

The Sisterhood Project works alongside healthcare professionals to provide free Infant and Child First Aid and health literacy education to families who might otherwise miss out. By empowering parents and carers with the confidence and skills to respond in an emergency, recognise serious illness, and seek help early, we are helping create safer communities and improving outcomes for children.
